Does Time Cause Problems in Physics
Is “Time” and the measurement of “Time” causing problems in physics??. Apparently, when a value of “Time” is shown within complex calculations, with respect to physics, the end calculation makes no reference to “Time”. It has disappeared. It has been cancelled out. Somewhere in the calculations there has been a figure for “Time” on the top line and the same figure for “Time” underneath and a stroke of a pen deletes the top value and the bottom value. It has gone.
Intelligent life understands and can specify “length”, “breadth”, ”width” and to those we have a unseen dimension called “Time”. These 4 dimensions we use every day. We understand that it will take a number of hours to walk from London to Bath. We have got used to speed as the number of miles that we can travel in a given “Time” e.g. 30 miles per hour. However, when we start to question what is “Time” we have a problem. Of course, we have all grown up knowing, if not in detail, the approximate date of our birth. In my case, that was 1941 and today in 2014 that makes me 73 years of age. However, if we go back to the origin of “Time” measurement what this actually means is that I have made 73 revolutions around the sun and 73 x 365 revolutions around the axis of the World.
What civilisation has brought about is a convenient way of measuring “Time” as a method of ordering our society and then extrapolating that understanding to encompass the universe.
Taking an example of travelling from London to Bogota. Neglecting that the earth is rotating for this example, when we are in London, the point in space that is Bogota is +/-5000 miles away. Should we step on board a commercial aircraft and set of for Bogota the flight will take +/- 10 hours. What we are not considering is that our target point of Bogota could be moving away from us at 60.000 miles per hour. That is the Earth’s speed around the sun. This is compensated for the fact our commercial airliner is also travelling at 60000 mph within the Earth’s envelope, plus circa 500 mph over ground. If we now remove the Earth’s effect and have London and Bogota just two points in space what speed will out commercial airliner have to make to complete the journey in 10 hours assuming the commercial airliner can only boost its speed to 60500 mph.
This is a conundrum, along with other conundrums which can only be resolved by going back to the period before the scholars gave us days, hours, minutes and seconds and measuring in a different way.
In a paragraph above I wrote. “The same scholars had worked out that the earth rotated +/-365 times around the sun to basically arrive at the same position.” However, scientists have proven that our Solar system is not fixed in space and is moving at high speed relative to other systems which are also moving at high speed in relation to other systems. It seems we have no fixed point to make reference to and we now understand that every particle in the universe is constantly changing position relative to every other particle. The only fact it would seem is that ever particle is rotating around its own axis and every mass of particles are revolving around another mass. (To Part 7)
